Councillor Duties
What does it take to be an effective Councillor? As a minimum there is a commitment to attend at least 17 full and committee meetings a year on a Monday evening; but there should be a much greater involvement in order for the Council to be proactive and progressive. There are many formal and informal meetings to be attended outside of normal Council meetings, numerous papers to be read and ad hoc and regular jobs to be done, such as producing and distributing the Beacon, planting bulbs and tidying the Village Green! It can be a frustrating job when you are trying to get organisations and people to do the jobs they are responsible for; but it can be rewarding when things you have been pressing for are achieved and when the occasional praise comes your way.

If you are interested in putting yourself forward to be a Riccall Parish Councillor, please contact the Clerk for further details.
