Company Applies to Selby for Incinerator Licence

Residents and Parish Councillors have been shocked by the news that a company has allegedly applied for a licence to burn whole and part animal carcases close to Riccall.

A similar development was proposed in 2000 and received planning permission following a lengthy public enquiry. However it is not clear whether a licence was issued for operation of the plant.

If the current development progresses and a licence is granted, Selby District Council have vowed to strictly monitor and control emissions from the plant.

The Parish Council was strongly opposed to the original plans and Chairman Howard Adamson said “We will continue to oppose the plans”

Meetings are planned over the coming weeks and if you would like your views to be heard, please contact the Clerk, Lindsey Ryan.
