Riccall Golden Jubilee Celebrations |
|
The Golden Jubilee was celebrated in style in Riccall with the following events: |
|
Friday 31st May saw a Last Night of the Proms concert, featuring |
|
Barlby Foot Tappers, Nestle Rowntree Band and soprano Linda Cartwright. |
|
Saturday 1st June was family fun day at the Regen Centre, with stalls, games, BBQ and a live band. Saturday evening saw a dance held at the Village Institute. |
|
Sunday 2nd June saw a parade of the Scouts, Brownies, Cubs and Beavers, along with other villagers, march from the Village Green to the Millennium Green for an open air religious service. In the afternoon an open air village picnic on the Village Green with live music from local artist, Billy Bills. |
|
Monday 3rd June in the evening, a display of cannon fire was provided by Dr. Stanford and the Village Beacon was lit at 10pm to mark the end of the Village celebrations. |
|
Over the extended weekend, villagers enjoyed a flower festival in St Mary’s Church, a photographic exhibition of the last 50 years of Riccall in the Methodist Chapel and a Village Golden Jubilee Treasure Hunt. |

A Golden Jubilee commemorative bone china mug was presented to each child in the village of primary School age and below. See picture below. |
