Riccall Animal Carcass Incinerator - UPDATE

It now seems as though the Animal Incinerator, planned for Riccall airfield will go ahead. Back in 2000, the original planning application for the incinerator was refused by Selby District Council, after many local people joined forces with Riccall Parish Council and other local Parish Councils to object. This decision was challenged and went before an appeal, at which it was overturned. After this, no work actually began on site and it appeared that the company applying for the incinerator had changed their mind, much to the relief of many locals. Some years later, with the planning permission still valid, an operating licence for the incinerator was applied for and granted. Again, no work began on site and it seemed that the incinerator was not deemed to be economically viable.

Recently, the issue is back on the Agenda and seems to be going ahead. Riccall Parish Council, still strongly objects to the incinerator and has asked that an officer from Selby District Council attend the next meeting, in order to offer an update on the situation.
