Lottery Award Boost for Riccall Community Archive Group |
Members of Riccall Community Archive Group are celebrating today after receiving a grant of £4990 from the National Lottery's Awards for All programme. |
The grant will allow the group to purchase computer hardware and software and other equipment and services in order to establish a digital multimedia community archive - an ongoing record of Riccall's cultural heritage. The archive will consist largely of photographs and documents with attached text and oral reminiscences. It will be based at the Regen Centre, Riccall, but will be available for use at other community access venues. |
Group secretary, Howard Adamson, said: 'We are thrilled to get this award today. For a group like ours this is a large sum of money - and it will allow us to develop a facility that will be educational, as well as giving pleasure and a sense of community pride to present and future generations.' |
'We have worked hard to develop this project and to write the application. Now we have got the majority of the money we need, we shall be fine tuning our plans and implementing them over the coming months. |
