Yorkshire Electricity & Recent Power Cuts

Residents have been asking for compensation after recent lengthy power cuts in Riccall and regular interruptions to supply.

Catherine Emsley of Yorkshire Electricity has said “the recent interruptions have been due to an intermittent overhead line fault. I am pleased to confirm that this fault was located and permanently repaired on 20 September 2003. The fault proved particularly difficult to locate, we were however able to supply the majority of customers via an alternative route to reduce the number of customers affected by the interruptions. You should therefore not be affected by any further interruptions to supply in relation to this particular fault. In view of the problems we will be carrying out a full overhead line helicopter patrol within the next couple of weeks to identify any further potential problems that may affect the quality of supply.”

Yorkshire Electricity are set to invest £100k on new equipment associated with the overhead lines supplying the area which should improve the reliability of supply to customers.
