Recreation Ground Plans Get the Go Ahead

Today, ‘Living Spaces’ confirmed a grant of £25,000 towards the development of Riccall Recreation Ground. This is the last piece of the £51,000 funding required for phase 1 of the project, which will include a fenced play area with a central picnic area.

Funding has been secured from Riccall Parish Council (around £18,000) and from a Section 106 agreement with the builder of the new houses opposite the Recreation Ground (around £6,000). Around £2,000 has been raised locally.

Selby District Council’s ‘Money 4 U’ scheme has promised just under £5,000, to provide a multi wall for teenagers. This should go in at around the same time as the junior and toddler equipment. Further teenage equipment is planned during Phase 2 of the project and funding for this is currently being sought.

Work to improve the boundary of the Recreation Ground is starting straight away. The new play equipment should be in place over the winter months.
