Details of the Riccall Carnival for 2006 by Brian Keen................
Riccall Carnival Friday 23rd June till Sunday 25th June
The theme this year is the 75th anniversary of the school, it starts on Friday night with the concert put on by the Parish Council, this usually starts the weekend off well.
Saturday afternoon is mainly in the school, and events will mainly be organised by the PTA. There will be a exhibition in the church and in the Methodist Hall followed by a disco in the Village Institute in the evening.
On Sunday we will be having the church open air service in the grounds of the school and weather permitting we will follow up with the now traditional picnic on the village green. Remember last years 'Big Picture' which was organised and displayed by Neil Spilman? This year it is the turn of the 'Terracotta Kids'. You will have the chance to do a 6" clay model (clay will be supplied by Neil) of a school child or person involved with the school.
Scarecrows this year are to be on the theme of Nursery Rhyme characters.
The Saturday before Riccallish Alsorts are performing a play in the Regen Centre based on the school.
Organising the carnival this year is already well under way and hopefully the now annual Riccall Carnival will continue to go from strength to strength.
