Landmarks
There are many in the village: some buildings are listed and many others retain their character after skilled conversion or careful modernisation. These give Riccall character and historically document the past. Others such as the Regen Centre will add to this in the future. The principal ones are:
St. Mary's Church of 12th century origin
The Prebendal and moated Manor House of part 13th century origin
The 19th century Windmill
The Regen Centre - opened summer 2000
The concrete 20th century Water Tower
No development should affect the historical features and visual enhancement must always be of paramount importance with the first three. Great care should also be taken to protect the many 18th and 19th century houses and cottages against out-of-character additions, alterations, conversions or modernisation.
Recommendations:
No development should be allowed to obstruct the view of the historical village landmarks.
Views of St. Mary's Church should be protected and if possible, improved from the east and south.
Further developments should always enhance the period buildings and increase public open areas.
